The new CEO of Fonterra clearly understands cooperatives
The New Zealand Cooperatives Association is very pleased to hear of the appointment of Theo Spierings as the new CEO of Fonterra. Cooperatives Association chairperson Chris Knowles said: “The new CEO of Fonterra clearly understands cooperatives. I am very happy the appointment is a long-term cooperator who will clearly understand the tensions of farmer ownership and member funding.”

Message to the People of Japan
It seems it was only yesterday that I was reading a message of support to the people of Christchurch and the surrounding districts from the JCCU, the Japanese Consumers’ Cooperative Union. United Nations declares 2012 as “International Year of Cooperatives”

“Well done Foodstuffs” – Cooperatives Association chairperson Peter Macdougall
Chairperson of the New Zealand Cooperatives Association, Peter Macdougall today congratulated Foodstuffs on their improved results. With revenue for the year of $7.62bn, the three cooperatives which own Foodstuffs together form New Zealand's second largest business, with the largest being dairy co-op Fonterra Cooperative Group.
